Generally speaking, the answer to clean water in Uganda is no. Many freshwater sources are contaminated with parasites, bacteria, and harmful chemicals. Water in Uganda is not treated like it is in other countries such as the USA, Canada, the UK, and Australia. You should not drink tap water unless it has first been boiled, filtered, or treated.
Therefore as an organization facing the same challenge of clean and fresh water in Kalule-Buwambo decided as per our 5 year work plan to seek for funds to dig and construct a borehole that will provide fresh and clean water to the residents in Kalule-Buwambo and at the shelter for free.
In Uganda alone, 8 million people lack access to clean, safe drinking water.
Over 70% of all diseases treated in Uganda stem directly from a lack of clean water or poor sanitation and hygiene techniques.
People in rural areas draw their drinking water mainly from surface sources such as ponds, rivers and lakes. These sources are often watering holes for livestock, downhill from latrines, and catchments for mudslide debris — all dangerous contaminants that can contribute to life-threatening illnesses like diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, dysentery and hepatitis.
Front Aid Foundation is the process of constructing 10 boreholes in Wakiso district to help on the alarming water problem. We want our people to enjoy clean and safe water.
